Q - Why Choose LED Lights? A - Lighting consumes over 20% of all the power used in the United States and incandescent lighting is becoming "banned" in many commercial applications and Canadian territories for use as holiday lighting and in new construction. That is why LED lights – the most efficient light source available to date - represent the greatest breakthrough in lighting technology since Edison's invention of the incandescent light bulb . LEDs are rapidly replacing incandescent and fluorescent lighting in a variety of functional applications including traffic lights, vehicle lights, industrial lighting, and emergency exit signs. LEDs are a low-maintenance, energy efficient solution for anyone looking for dynamic lighting displays. They are also versatile and can be used in many creative applications featuring a variety of brilliant colors and decorative styles to choose from. More reasons why LEDgen Lighting LEDs are the better choice for seasonal and decorative lighting:
Q – What is the difference between Commercial and Standard Grade? A - In a nutshell, our COMMERCIAL GRADE LED string lights have co-axial (screw together) connectors and only 25 lights per set, but can be connected up to 125 sets from just one plug and are rated for continuous use. On the other hand, our STANDARD GRADE LED string lights have traditional (square) end-to-end plugs, vary in length from 25 to 70 lights per set and are subject to UL ratings of connecting only 3 sets to one plug (but see "how many sets can I connect…" in Q-A below). Q – Can I shop LEDgen online? A - As a major distributor of various LED lighting products, we supply a large network of other retailers and online stores in addition to serving our commercial and direct-buy consumers. In order to allow our Dealers/Distributors the opportunity to do business without directly competing with us online we do not have a LEDgen Lighting e-commerce store. Instead, we hope that you enjoy the personal service that you will get by contacting our sales team at 1-800-788-9627 or via email. We will only use your contact information to respond to your requests for products and services unless you choose to also subscribe to our newsletter or RSS feed. We do not share our customer lists with anyone. Q - How do I place an order? A - Our knowledgeable sales team is available to assist you with your order via email or by calling our office TOLL FREE at 1-800-788-9727. Of course, if you happen to be "in the neighborhood", you are always welcome to stop in and check our inventory or make a purchase. Our office hours are M-F from 8:00am to 5:00pm EST/EDT. During the peak season months of September through January you are likely to find someone available later in the evening or on Saturday. If you do reach our office after hours, please leave a detailed message on our answering machine or send us an email and we will promptly assist you on the next business day. We will only use your contact information to respond to your requests for products and services unless you choose to also subscribe to our newsletter or RSS feed. We do not share our customer lists with anyone. Q - What are my payment options? A - We accept all major credit cards, checks, cash or money orders. International and first-time orders in excess of $2,500.00 must seek credit approval or pay in advance of shipment. Large accounts may also qualify for credit terms upon approval. Download and send us your credit application to start the process.Q - What color is White?
A - As indicated in the picture above, the "Pure White" LEDs; also known as "Cool White", tend to have an intense and distinctive, high-tech, bluish glow. The "Warm White" LEDs; sometimes referred to as "Soft White", have a more traditional, creamy, yellow glow. Another common substitute for incandescent clear lights has been "Antique Candlelight" which has a clear lens but the light is almost orange in contrast to either of the White LEDs. Keep in mind that ALL colors and shades of white will vary in tone and intensity due to lens style and product grade so we always suggest that you request a sample of the exact color, grade and lens that you wish to use before making a final purchase. Slight color variation among LEDs is considered normal and not defined as a defective issue and therefore, not covered by manufacturer warranty.
Q - How many sets of light strings can I connect together from one plug? A - Use our convenient LED String Light Energy Calculator to determine your power needs. Our Commercial Grade light strings (with 25 lights each) can be connected up to 125 sets (3,125 bulbs) to the power of just one plug. However, the Standard Grade products are currently subject to incandescent UL ratings and most are labeled "connect up to 3 sets" on the tags.Fortunately, UL codes and ratings are changing for LED lights which will begin in 2008 and will specify maximum wattage connections instead of maximum set connections. Until that becomes official, it has been our experience that it safe to use 20 to 30 strings of Standard Grade products from one plug depending on the number of lights per string. To ensure your safety, DO NOT combine incandescent light strings with LED light strings.
Q - How many retrofit bulbs can I operate from one plug? A - Use our convenient LED Retrofit Energy Calculator to determine your power needs. All of our decorative C7 and G20 bulbs with 3 LEDs, C9 and G30 bulbs with 5 LEDs, or G40 and T50 bulbs with 10 LEDs are rated at approximately 1 watt each (as compared to 5-9 watts for similar incandescent bulbs). We have tested these products and recommend installing up to 825 bulbs to a single plug when using our cordset with quick-connect plugs (these plugs are rated for 8.5 amps). Larger bulbs with E26 bases such as the G40, T50 and F50 can be used with Eagle Sockets and double twisted wire which can support more wattage.
Q - Can I request LED products that are not on the website? A - Yes! We understand that sometimes a project or budget requires the use of one vendor for certain products so we have resources available to get many types of commercial and residential LED lighting products. We will make every effort to find the items you are looking for and get a quote back to you in a timely manner. Special requests have included battery and solar powered LED lights, LED halogen replacements, LED par lights, LED spot lights, LED theatrical and stage lighting fixtures, LED tube lights, LED strobes, LED Ultraviolet (UV) lamps, LED landscape lighting, LED low-voltage lamps, or even industrial LED mercury vapor replacement bulbs.
Q - How Do LEDs Work? A - Construction - LEDs (light emitting diodes) are constructed from tiny solid-state semiconductor chips similar to those used in computers. These chips directly convert electricity to light without the use of a filament or glass bulb. Instead, the chips are encapsulated in solid plastic that can be made into a variety of shapes and sizes. Basic differences between conventional light bulbs and LEDs are shown as follows:
Function - Our Standard Grade LED lights are built with patented circuitry to maximize efficiency of their LEDs. This revolutionary design concept eliminates the use of traditional components that add to cost and generate heat. Our Commercial Grade lights are full-wave rectified to create a light that can appear up to 40% brighter than our Standard Grade LEDs. The result is a cheaper, safer, and longer lasting product with less power consumption than could otherwise be designed. Lifetime is predicted to be over twenty years of continuous use, and much longer if just used seasonally. This latest development in decorative lighting technology promises to change the way people decorate their homes, businesses, and even towns for many years to come. Less power consumption, longer product life, and durability without the hazards of excess heat build-up should make the holiday season brighter, safer, and greener for the next generation. |
